Thirteen individuals have filed as candidates for Board of Directors positions for South Suburban’s May 6 election. There are three openings for four-year terms on the five-member board. The incumbent candidates are Keith Gardner and Cathie Frazzini. However, Frazzini has elected to withdraw from the election. Pete Barrett is term limited after serving two consecutive terms (2018-2025). Board Members Pam Eller and Ken Lucas will continue to serve their terms, which are scheduled to expire in May 2027.
Why are you interested in becoming a candidate for the Board? I have a deep connection to the district. I am a lifelong resident of South Suburban and my father worked for South Suburban for 48 years and served as Executive Director for 30. I have grown alongside this district and watched it become what it is today. The vision and purpose of this district has been instilled in me from the beginning. With the search for the district’s third Executive Director in 40 years underway, I am eager to help ensure that South Suburban continues its legacy of excellence. The district has earned four nationally recognized gold medal awards and been named a finalist 12 times, highlighting its commitment to high-quality services.
