Cheers to 50 years! This year, South Suburban Golf Course is celebrating 50 years of remarkable golf.
The clubhouse opened its doors in April 1974 and immediately became a community favorite! This course was the first within the District and was designed by renowned landscape architect Dick Phelps. The original design included the Par-3 course, which remains one of the best in the region today. The course design has only seen minimal changes since its inception and welcomes more than 90,000 rounds per year. The first golf professional at the course, Wes Squires, was responsible for creating men’s and ladies leagues that are still going strong today.
“Celebrating 50 years at South Suburban Golf Course is due to the support of the local golf community and staff,” said PGA Head Golf Professional Todd Marley. “We’ve had golfers that started here in our junior camps and continue to play as adults. The mountain views, quality service and family-friendly course are what truly make South Suburban unique and one of the best on the front range.”
South Suburban Golf Course will be celebrating all year with drink specials, giveaways and nostalgic merchandise. Plus, get your collectible 50th anniversary pint glass with a beer for $8, and refills are just $4 for the rest of the day at the South Suburban Bar and Grill, which is also hosting concerts and karaoke nights throughout the year. Check their events calendar for more information.
