South Suburban’s Director of Skating, Gerry Lane, was inducted into the Professional Skaters Association (PSA) Hall of Fame at the 2024 U.S. Figure Skating Access to Excellence Reception held on May 15.
“It’s an honor to have the opportunity to work with Gerry Lane on a daily basis,” said Bill Dobbs, General Manager of Ice & Sports Operations at South Suburban. “His leadership and knowledge have helped create one of the largest Learn to Skate programs in the country. Gerry’s passion for the sport of ice skating is evident in his enthusiasm at every level of the sport. No one is more deserving of this recognition.”
Lane has been the Director of Skating for South Suburban since 1992 and has coached all levels from beginners to Olympians. He is the former president of the PSA, holding a Master Rating in Figures, Freestyle, Dance, Free Dance and Skating Skills. Lane was a competitive figure skater for 16 years, competing nationally and internationally with U.S. Figure Skating Team.
“I’m honored to be recognized by PSA along with such outstanding colleagues,” said Lane. “I feel lucky that I’ve been able spend my entire career in an industry that I love. It’s been a true pleasure to play a role in the success of so many skaters throughout their careers.”
